I came across this site looking for a job opportunity as a diver for nypd. I am origanily from New York and would like to get into that line of work. Unfortunately your sitye does not have anything about divers. You do have some great pictures and the dedication was very good. Thanks for your time.

Bill. This web-site is a wonderful tribute to the Harbor Unit. I am one of those people that has always been facinated by the blue and white vessels in the harbor. The site makes the men and machines of the Unit much more personal and real. As a dedication to your father, this website truely speaks from the heart. I hope more people have the opportunity to view and appreciate this effort. Clearly, you and Greg are very special people - it's an honor to know you both. Sincerely, Steve

The web site looks GREAT! Thanks for sharing it with me (not a harbour police officer). Sorry I forgot about the "affair" May 9th...it was "Hell" week for me! Although I live in Westchester, I've kept a boat in Brooklyn for YEARS (Since 1982) and fish as often as the weather permits. You will see me on the water with "Blackjack 3"...blowing my horn, and trying to catch some fish. Once again...thanks for the memories! later, Mel

Bill you have done a great job on this site. After looking at the photos I went looking for some old photos I have of Harbor, and found some of Launch 3, College Point, off Laguardia Airport with Joe Ricker also one of the launch at the base. Found one from the NYC Boat Show, don't remember the year,of our Harbor Information Booth with Capt. Lowe and two other bosses I can't remember their names. Will send you the photos or bring them to this years Bent Wheel if I can make it. Thanks again for the great job. Bob Knobel

Glad to see this web site. It is really great! Please add me to your current mailing list. Let me give you some back round info on myself. My Dad and I were both assigned to Harbor. Dad is 90 years old and lives at 4703-67 St. Woodside NY. He spends half the year in Florida. He is on your mailing list. I was assigned to the unit in 11/03/66 to 01/30/84...transfered to ESU/EMS (PD Ambulance)until I retired on 06/05/99. Harbor stays in your blood and I loved the command. I transferred out only because I needed week-ends off. My son was accepted into West Point and I didn't want to miss anymore important events in his life that happens to all of us working a patrol chart. Since retiring I moved two times and made efforts to keep the Club informed as to my residence but I guess I got lost in the suffle. I will be at the next Bent Wheel Affair...looking forward to seeing old friends and making new one's. My best to all my brothers. Sincerely, Bill Hasper

Enjoyed the site very much. Great photos which brought back many memories. Vividly remember the "Parade of Police Launches" for the 1978 Harbor Festival. Harry Wasiluk was the C.O. at the time. There should be some photos of the Harbor Unit being presented with a sterling silver momento for their work during the Harbor Festival. Presentation was made in the P.C.'s (McGuire) Office. Incidently, the 3rd man in the photo of Mayor Lindsey and Sgt. Smith is Det. Ernie Latty, a real gentleman. I had the good fortune to work with him around 1975-1977.

The web site is terrific! My Dad, Jack Krohn, served in Harbor for many years as a Patrolman (50's and 60's I believe), and then returned as a Sgt. in the early 70's. He remained there until retirement in 1981.

Great site. I am proud of the 7 + years I served with the NYPD, before rolling over to the Suffolk County PD. I especially enjoyed my final year 1993-1994 when I worked at Harbor George. The professionalism and the knowlege displayed by the men and women of the Harbor unit is second to none. I consider it an honor to to have worked with some of the HU legends such as Billy Church Sr, Kenny Hansen Sr. among other extraodinary pilots in the unit.I have been with the SCPD Marine Bureau for over 6 years now , and run the Marine kilo boat. (38' Thomas marine aluminum hull with twin 3116 Cat diesels ) Murf. I know you will appreciate my inclusion of the spec's ! Feel free to look me up if ever out in Suffolk County or drop me an e-mail. Good luck with new launch 35 ( I would love to see the spec's on her, and how she goes with the 4 bladed wheels) I hope to see you guys at the BWC club affair in May. Until then God Bless, and stay safe. Charlie
