P.O. Jim Chambers

Jim was appointed in June of 1963, and went to the 46 Pct. In June of 1967 he was transferred to Harbor. Over an eight year period he worked the entire command and ended up at Hart Island.

In the fall of 1975 he moved to the LRS and did the budget and new boat specs and contracts. The 4 30’ launches were his last project.

In June 1983 he left the job and went to New York Waterways to help with their startup and managed the Port Imperial Marina. He also managed Seaport Line for McAllister Bros for awhile.

He has been, and continues to be a Captain for Spirit Cruises since 1995.

In Nov 2003 he sailed the Irish 3 masted barque, Jeanie Johnston from Newfoundland to Ireland.

For several years he was the Race Committee Chairman for the South Street Seaport Museum’s Mayor’s Cup Race.

Jim now works as a consultant for Hornblower’s Statue Cruises.

He lives in Battery Park City, and on the “Osprey” in New Jersey.

Jim recently received his 10th Coast Guard license renewal.

I entered the PD in 1955, was assigned to Harbor Patrol in 1957, where I held a 100 ton Captain’s license. I worked most boats at most of the posts, but was assigned mostly to the College Point Unit until I retired in 1975.

I then opened up a Nautical Decorations/ Marine Antiques and Fishing Items store, called Triangle Sea Sales since 1975 to the present date and am still doing it!! My store is located in Greenport, NY, near the end of Eastern Long Island. Be sure to drop in and say hello when you’re in the area and we’ll swap stories. I'm located on 36 South Street, in Greenport Village, and also have a website: www.triangleseasales.com I’m open 7 days a week all summer, and other times by chance or appointment (at 78 years old, I’m supposed to be retired, ya know!)

Sgt. Mike Murphy

Now working for H.O.Penn Machinery Co. in the Bronx -The CATERPILLAR dealer for NYC Long Island and Conn.
Mike is a sales rep covering Electrical Power Generation Service.

Mike holds a 100 Ton Captain's license and has worked in the diesel field prior to going on the job in July 1983.
First assigned to the 48pct he was later assigned to Launch Repair for 13 yrs.
Promoted in March 1998 to the 41 pct and then
back to Harbor George in 99. He was re-reasigned to Launch Repair after 9/11 and
retired in Sept 2003.

Jerry holds a 100 Ton Captain's. license and is the past President of the Bent Wheel Club

Jerry retired from Harbor Adam in July 2005. Before Harbor, he patrolled in the 115 from July 1984 to May 1988

Matt Leuci also works with Jerry at Surfside3. Matt is the nephew of P.O.Maruo Leuci also Retired from NYCPD Harbor Patrol

Lt. Carol Walker

Carol is living in Florida and does volunteer work for Eckerd College in
St Petersburg Florida. She has sailed around the world on a 100 day, 10 country voyage with 625 college kids and has done several river cruises in the U.S and Europe. This spring she will help lead a trip to China for the College.

Carol also held a 100 Ton Captain's license.

Carol joined the force in 1973 and her first assignment was on the scooter patrol in the Manhattan Traffic Area, was furloughed, came back, became an instructor in the Academy. Carol was accepted as the first woman into Harbor in 1984 and assigned to Harbor George. She later made lieutenant ,became the training coordinator and went on to become Harbor George Base Commander. She retired in 1988.
